Obituary

Salem: Raymond T. Fraser age 83 of Salem, died Monday, May 18, 2009 at the E. N. Rogers Memorial Veterans Hospital in Bedford, following a long illness. He was the devoted husband of the late Sally Ann ‘Barbara’ (Savoy) Fraser.

Born and raised in Salem, he was the son of the late Joseph W. and Yvonne (Roy) Fraser. A veteran of W.W. II, Ray entered the Army in 1943 and served in France in a transportation company as an interpreter. Following the war he returned to Salem, and along with his brother Robert, joined the family owned Fraser Motor Express, Inc., the transportation company founded by their father and from which he retired.

With their children in school, Ray and his late wife Barbara were active in fund raising events for St. Joseph School and St. Chretienne Academy. He was a former director of the St. Joseph Credit Union / Seaport Credit Union for over 28 years. Following his retirement, Ray loved spending time at his home in Maine.

He is survived by 2 daughters, Linda A. Linskey of Salem and Brenda J. McDonough of North Reading, 2 sons, Raymond T. Fraser, II of Danvers and Keith A. Fraser and his wife Lisa of Salem, 3 brothers, Robert A. Fraser of Salem, Arthur Fraser of Marblehead and Richard V. Fraser of Seabrook, NH, and a sister, Yvonne Martel of Florida. He is also survived by 8 grandchildren, William M. Linskey, Jr., Brianne A. Maffei, Patrick, Jennifer & Courtney McDonough, Raymond, Jonathan & Amanda Fraser, James & Christopher Fraser. He was predeceased by 2 brothers, Leopold & Wilfred Fraser and a sister, Lucienne Gallant.

Relatives and friends are invited to gather at the Levesque Funeral Home, 163 Lafayette St [Rt. 114 / 1-A] Salem on Friday, May 22, 2009 at 8 a.m. to be followed by his funeral mass in Ste. Anne Church, Jefferson Ave., Salem at 9 am. Visiting hours: Thursday 4 to 8 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the E. N.
