Herbert “Jerry” C. Wirt, of Duxbury, 73, passed away on May 16th at St. Elizabeth’s Hospital in Boston. He is survived by his beloved wife Suzanne Fisk Wirt of Duxbury and his daughters Lisa Wirt Hebert, Lori Wirt, Pamela Barter and his step-daughters Kimberly Blazie, Tammy Huber and Kristin Dame. He also leaves his sister Judy Torruella, 17 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren. Jerry was a lifelong resident of Duxbury and graduated from Duxbury High School in 1954. He was a retired master plumber. He owned and operated Wirt Plumbing, Inc. for many years. Jerry was a member of the Duxbury American Legion Post 223. He was an avid sailor and boater and enjoyed fishing and carpentry. A memorial service will be held on Friday, May 22nd at 1 PM at the First Parish Unitarian Church in Duxbury and will be followed by a Celebration of his life at the Duxbury American Legion Post 223. There are no visiting hours. In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be made to the American Diabetes Association, 1 Bromfield St, 5th Floor, Boston, MA 02108.
