Obituary

WORCESTER - Eugene C. Kennedy, 90, of 501 Plantation St. formerly of Barre-Paxton Rd., Rutland died Monday January 7 in the Veterans Administration Hospital West Roxbury after an illness.

He leaves his wife of 42 years Young Soon (Kim) Kennedy of Worcester; three sons Eugene C. Kennedy Jr. of Marshfield, MA John F. Kennedy and Kim R. Kennedy both of Brookline, MA; two daughters Carolyn E. Lassiter of Melrose, MA and Susan Sullivan of Chandler, AZ; two brothers Albert Smith and Cyril Smith both of Rhode Island; 97 grandchildren and several nephews and nieces. Mr. Kennedy is predeceased by a son Frank Kennedy who died in 1989 while serving in the U.S. Army and a daughter Phyllis Fletcher. He was born in Boston, Ma son of Bradley Smith and Wilhelmina Kennedy.

Mr. Kennedy served over 25 years in the United States Army and served during World War II and the Korean Conflict.

He worked as a photographer for the Barre Gazette for many years retiring in August of 2001. He also owned and operated Kennedy Studios in Rutland for over 30 years.

Mr. Kennedy was a member of the V.F.W. Post in Barre and was also a member of the Masons.

The funeral will be held on Friday Jan. 11 at 1 PM in The First Congregational Church of Rutland 246 Main St. Rutland. Burial will be at the conveinience of the family. Calling hours are on Thursday Jan. 10 from 6 to 9 Pm in the Alfred Roy & Sons Funeral home 12 Hammond St. Worcester. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Shelter for Homeless Veterans 2 Grove Street Worcester, MA.
