Edward J. Francis, Jr., 83, of Dartmouth died Wednesday May 13, 2009 at home. He was the husband of Leonora (Almeida) Francis.
Born in Dartmouth, the son of the late Edward J. and Blanche (Lachance) Francis, he lived in Dartmouth all of his life.
Mr. Francis was a self-employed painter and paper hanger for many years.
He was a member of the Freetown Memorial Post 6643, Veterans of Foreign Wars. During World War II, he served in the U.S. Navy in the Asiatic-Pacific Theater.
Survivors include his wife; three children, Lloyd Francis and his wife Claudette, and Cynthia Francis, all of Dartmouth, and David Francis and his wife Chris of Eagle River, Alaska; a brother, Robert Francis and his wife Barbara of Rochester; four grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and two nieces.
