Fluhr, Sr., Darrel Phillip, 96, passed away Wednesday, May 13, 2009 at Hosparus.
Born in Jefferson County, he was the son of the late William and Ida Fluhr. He was a member of Parkwood Baptist Church and retired from the Jefferson County Board of Education.
He is preceded in death by his beloved wife of 75 years, Vivian Alice Fluhr; daughter, Betty Gonterman; son Darrel Phillip, Jr.; and grandson, David Fluhr.
He is survived by daughters, Mickey Hinton (Jerry) and Patricia Holland of DePauw, Indiana; 10 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; three great-great grandchildren; brother, Em Fluhr; and sister, Ida Ash. The family would like to extend their appreciation to his caregiver, Doris Crawford and Hosparus.
Funeral service will be 1pm Saturday at Owen Funeral Home, 5317 Dixie Highway with burial to follow in Bethany Cemetery.
Visitation will be Friday 1-8pm.
