Obituary

Laura Lillian Johnson, 95

Dateline: Foxboro, MA

Laura L. (Westhaver) a longtime resident of Foxboro and recently of California died on Tuesday May 12, 2009 with the same dignity and elegance in which she lived her life, Laura took her last worldly breath and joined our Lord at the age of 95. Her loving family members were with her at home in Lake Elsinore, CA. as she peacefully began her journey. Although time had weakened her body, her faith remained strong and resolute. She loved being surrounded by family members and friends.
Born to the late Ara (McLean) and David Westhaver in Watertown, MA Laura grew up in Mansfield with her three sisters and one brother, learning the true meaning of love and family values from an early age. It was at this time in her life that Laura joined the Mansfield Methodist Church and gave her life to Christ. She has been an active lifelong member of the church.
Educated in the Mansfield school system, Laura went on to earn her Bachelor of Science degree at Boston University in Practical Arts and Letters. Laura taught in the Orleans, VT school system for two years starting in 1935 and the Swansea schools from 1937 till her marriage to the late John Johnson in 1941, where she resided at 129 High Street in Foxboro for over sixty sevens. After a year and a half at the Foxboro Company, Laura’s life changed to starting a family.
Laura is survived by her loving and dear sister Alma Mae Thibault of Mansfield, her daughter Judith Johnson (Clark) of St. Augustine, FL, son Roger and daughter-in-law Elizabeth Johnson of Lake Elsinore, CA, Granddaughters: Amy Hatley of Norton, Carla Carrier of Foxboro, Jennifer Townsend of Cypress, CA, Rene Battaglia of Hemet, CA and Erica Clardy of Carthage, N.Y., Great Grand-sons Shelby, Richard, Kyle and Laura’s one Great-Grand-Daughter Caitlin.
Her respect for family and friends was always genuine and from the heart. Her promises were always kept and her ideas never compromised. She was “GODS GIFT” in every meaning of the word.
