James E. Nobles, 86 of Fitzgerald, Georgia, died Monday, May 11, 2009, at Dorminy Medical Center.
Funeral services will be held 1 P.M. Wednesday, May 13 in the Martin Funeral Home Chapel, Clanton, Alabama with Rev. Willard Scott officiating. Interment will follow in Coosa River Cemetery, Deatsville, Alabama. Visitation will be held 6-8 Tuesday evening at Martin Funeral Home.
Mr. Nobles was born March 27, 1923 in Clanton, Alabama to the late Ocie and Catherine Fuller Nobles. He was preceded in death by his wife, Margie Day Nobles and a son, Dale Burnette. Mr. Nobles served in the United States Army during World War II. He was a retired logger and a member of the Baptist faith.
Mr. Nobles is survived by his daughters, Linda Whitman of Fitzgerald and Dean Atkinson of Calera, AL; sons, Gene Burnette of Coopers, AL and James Burnette of Calera, AL; 17 grandchildren, numerous great and great great grandchildren.
