Obituary

Catherine V. (Cabral) Andrews, 82, of Mattapoisett died May 10, 2009 peacefully at St. Luke's Hospital. She was the wife of Roy R. Andrews with whom she shared 62 years of marriage.
Born in Fall River, the daughter of the late Manuel J. and Jennie (Riley) Cabral, she lived in Mattapoisett most of her life.
She was a communicant of St. Anthony's Church in Mattapoisett. She was a member and past president of the Women's Guild and a member of Legion of Mary, Altar Rosary Society and was the recipient of the Marian Medal from the Diocese of Fall River for her years of service to her parish.
Catherine was formerly employed by Cornell-Dubilier, May Optical, Preferred Home Care as a certified nursing assistant and was a clerk at Camp Edwards during World War II.
She was a graduate of Dartmouth High School, class of 1945 and was active in the reunion committee. She was involved with the Girl Scouts of America. Catherine enjoyed knitting, crocheting, crewl, crossword puzzles and was a competitive Scrabble player.
She was a selfless, generous person who loved her family and friends and will be dearly missed.
Survivors include her husband and she was the beloved mother of her 4 children, Beverly M. Rideaux of Mattapoisett, Ronald R. Andrews and his wife Christina M. of Punta Gorda, FL, Karen J. Santos and her husband John L. of Marion and Carl A. Andrews and his wife Beth J. of Mattapoisett; her sister and brothers, Jennie C. Spinola of New Bedford, Lawrence M. Cabral of Dartmouth and Joseph F. Cabral of Deland, FL; 8 grandchildren, Alyssa M. Wesolowski, Andrea M. Rideaux, Carlene L. Pedroso, Catherine B. Perry, Tara N. Santos, Elise J. Santos, Daniel H. Andrews and Alec R. Andrews; 6 great-grandchildren, Isabella, Luke, Adrianna, Thomas, Madelyn and Sophie; several nieces, nephews and godchildren.
She was the sister of the late Andrew Riley, Manuel J. Cabral, Jr. and Priscilla Cabral.
Funeral from the Saunders-Dwyer Mattapoisett Home For Funerals, 50 County Rd. (Rt. 6) Mattapoisett Friday, May 15th at 9 AM. Funeral Mass at St. Anthony's Church at 10 AM. Burial will follow in St. Anthony's Cemetery. Visiting hours Thursday, May 14th from 3-8 PM.
