Leonard C. Vail Sr, 67, of Scobie Pond Road, Derry, NH died Monday, January 7, 2002 at his home. He was born in Cambridge, MA on February 5, 1934, a son of the late Charles and Laura (Cross) Vail. He was a resident of Derry, NH since 1977, formerly living in Tewksbury, MA. He was a US Army Veteran. He was employed as a tractor trailer driver for many years. He enjoyed working on cars, trucks and antique automobiles. Since his illness, Lenny had gained great satisfaction from creating a model train village in his basement, which he was able to complete prior to his passing.
He is survived by his wife, Ruth C. (Sullivan) Vail, Derry, NH three daughters, Mrs. James (Debra) Arnold, N. Chelmsford, MA, Mrs. Mark (Ruthie) Baroody, Manchester, NH, Tracy Vail, Derry, NH, one son, Leonard C. (Wife Debra) Vail Jr., Auburn, NH, two grandchildren, Brock Baroody and Kevin E. Vail.
Funeral Services will be held on Friday January 11, 2002 at 10:00am at the Peabody Funeral Homes and Crematorium, 15 Birch Street, Derry. Burial will be in Forest Hill Cemetery, East Derry, NH. Friends may call at the funeral home on Thursday January 10, 2002 from 4-8pm. Memorial contributions may be made to the Dana Farber Cancer Institute, 44 Binney Street, Boston, MA 02115, earmark for Mesothelioma research and development.
