Joan M. (Gedraitis) Abbott, a Retired Legal Secretary, died Friday, May 8, 2009. Joan was born in South Boston and has lived in Weymouth 29 years. She was a graduate of South Boston High School and Newberry Jr. College. She was a legal secretary for various local law offices and for an Industrial Accident Board Judge. Beloved wife of Ernest “Bud” Abbott, devoted stepmother of Gregory Abbott of Carlsbad, CA and Sabrina Arruda of Fall River, MA, dear sister-in-law of Charles and Toni Abbott of Hingham and triplet sister of Jean Meltzer of Quincy. Also survived by 5 grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by sisters Janet Larkin and Celia Beggy. Relatives and friends are invited to the funeral from the C. C. Shepherd Funeral Home 134 Pleasant St. (Columbian Sq.) S. Weymouth on Thursday May 14 at 9 A.M. and the Funeral Mass at the St. Francis Xavier Church, 261 Pleasant St. S. Weymouth at 10 A.M.
