Obituary

WORCESTER-Ronald F. Allen, 75, of Worcester, died Monday, May 6th in the Rose Monahan Hospice Home. He leaves his wife of 49 years, Yvonnie L. (Weber) Allen; his daughter, Kim Y. Willand and her husband Richard of Leicester; five grandchildren, Derrick, Ross, Kyle, Nicole and Brett Willand, all of Leicester; and several nephews, nieces and cousins. Two brothers, Bill Allen and James Greenwood predeceased him.
Mr. Allen was born in Worcester, the son of William E. and Nellie M. (Robertson) Allen. He was a manager for Interstate Trucking, owned his own catering company and was employed by the Telegram and Gazette before retiring. Mr. Allen was an U.S. Air Force Korean War veteran. While serving at Nellis Air Force Base in Nevada, he invented a parachute packer which was accepted and used by the military. Mr. Allen was a former member of St. John’s Church.
A calling hour will be held on Saturday, May 9th from 8:30 until 9:30 AM with a service to follow at 9:30 AM in O’CONNOR BROTHERS FUNERAL HOME, 592 Park Avenue. Burial will be in Hope Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the VNA Care Network and Hospice, 120 Thomas Street, Worcester, MA 01608.
