Obituary

James Walter Farley, 77 of Medway died May 1 in Caritas Good Samaritan Hospital in Brockton. He was the husband of Gabriele M. (Bochinski) Farley.
Born in Holyoke, May 25, 1931, the son of the late Frank J. and Betty (MacDonald) Farley, Mr. Farley was raised in Holyoke and had lived in Medway since 1969.
Mr. Farley had been the operator of Farley’s Market and Snack Bar in Rye, New Hampshire before his retirement. He had previously operated Gabriella’s Restaurant in Newton, Gabe’s Variety Store in Medway and Farley’s Restaurant in Medway.
He had also been the chief chef at the Glen Ellen Country Club, the Walpole Country Club and a chef at the Meadows.
Mr. Farley served in the Marine Corps during the Korean War and attained the rank of Corporal.
He was a member of the Medway VFW and the Medway American Legion.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his daughter, Elizabeth J. Barnett of Spring Hill, Florida and sons, James F.P.Farley of Litchfield, New Hampshire and Frank J. Farley of Medway.
He is also survived by his brothers, Edward Farley of Framingham, Francis “Vinnie” Farley of Framingham, William Farley of Framingham and sister, Catherine Lanza of Leominster.
He is also survived by his grandchildren, Zachary Farley, Farley Barnett and Avery Farley. He was the grandfather of the late Hillary Farley.
His funeral will be held on Friday, May 8 from the Ginley-Crowley Funeral Home, 3 Barber St. in Medway at 9:15 followed by a funeral Mass in St. Joseph Church at 10 a.m.
Burial will be in the Massachusetts National Cemetery in Bourne at 2:15 p.m.
Calling hours will be on Thursday from 4-8 p.m.
