Obituary

WORCESTER___Virginia E. (Klimkaitis) Walent, 84, of Worcester, died Friday May 1, 2009 in St. Vincent Hospital 123 Summer St. Her husband, Joseph P. Walent died in 1983.

She leaves a daughter, Joan P. Mazeika and her husband Paul of Oxford; three sons, Ronald J. Walent of San Francisco, CA., Philip Walent and his wife Nancy of Shrewsbury and Joseph P. Walent, Jr, and his wife Kirsti of Camarillo, CA., a sister, Mary T. Quinn of Cape Elizabeth, ME., eight grandchildren, two great-grandchildren and nephew and nieces. She was predeceased by a brother, Albert Klimkaitis. She was born in Worcester, a daughter of Christopher and Mary (Sakalauskas) Klimkaitis and lived here all her life.

Mrs. Walent was a stitcher many years for area companies including Paul Hats, R.J. Toomey and Jantimate Co. She was a graduate of St. Casimir School and David Hale Fanning Trade School for Girls. Virginia was a former member of St. Margaret Mary Parish and was a member of Council 26 Knights of Lithuania. She was an accomplished seamstress and enjoyed gardening.

The funeral will be held on Tuesday, May 5 from HENRY-DIRSA FUNERAL HOME, 33 Ward Street, with a Mass at 9:15 a.m. in St. Mary Church, 640 Main Street, Shrewsbury. Burial will be in St. John’s Cemetery. Calling hours in the funeral home are Monday, May 4 from 5:00 to 7:30 p.m. Members of Council 26 Knights of Lithuania will meet at 5:30 p.m. during calling hours to conduct their ritual. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to VNA Care Network – Hospice, 120 Thomas St, Worcester, Ma, 01608 or to Habitat for Humanity care of John Walent, 11 Neptune Dr, Shrewsbury, Ma, 01545.
