Rose Margaret Montefusco
...formerly of Tewksbury; 86
CHELMSFORD - Rose Margaret Montefusco, age 86, died peacefully Tuesday evening, April 28, at Sunny Acres Nursing Home in East Chelmsford. She was the beloved wife for 50 years of Mario L. Montefusco, who died in 1994.
She was born in Brooklyn, New York, on November 6, 1922, a daughter of the late Joseph and Elizabeth "Lucy" (Phillipone) DeGruttola, and raised in New York City. She lived in Malden before moving to Tewksbury in 1956. She retired to Vermont, and returned to Lowell and Chelmsford in 1985.
She was a manager of the former "Jans" department store in Tewksbury. She was a former communicant of St. William's Parish in Tewksbury, and a member of the St. William's Sodality. She was also active in the fundraising and expansion of St. William's church in the 60's.
She was described as a talented crocheter, with a love for music.
She is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law, Rosemarie Montefusco and her husband Roland Toscano of Billerica, and Barbara Montefusco-Garner and her husband Willie Garner of Windsor, VT; two grandchildren, Laina Montefusco-Smith and her husband Ervin of Inverness, FL, and Jessica Toscano and her fiance Andrew Gearin both of Billerica; two great grandchildren, Sharon and Devon; and several nieces and nephews.
She was also mother of the late Richard Montefusco, and sister of the late Angela LaVita.
At her request funeral services are private.
