Gertrude D. “Trudy” (Marsland) Janik, 77, of Dartmouth passed away unexpectedly, Monday, April 27, 2009 at St. Luke’s Hospital. She was the wife of Ted Janik.
Born in Nantucket, daughter of the late Leo Marsland and the late Gertrude (Viera) Marsland-Strucinski, she had lived in Dartmouth for the past 45 years. Prior to retirement, she was a cook for the Dartmouth School Department. An avid bowler, she also enjoyed knitting and crocheting.
Including her husband, survivors include a son: Robert Janik and his wife Kathleen of Portsmouth, RI; 3 daughters: Cheryl Gauthier and her husband Jules of Dartmouth, Lee Ann Arnold of Pawtucket, RI and Victoria Owens of VA; 3 sisters: Mary Ann Pepi of ME, Cindi O’Grady of Nantucket and Joann Ponte of Nantucket; 6 grandchildren; several great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
Funeral to which relatives and friends are invited will be Thursday, April 30, 2009 at the Potter Funeral Home at 10:00 A.M.
Calling hours Wednesday 5 - 8 P.M.
Interment in Sacred Heart Cemetery, New Bedford.
