Christine Carpenter Whitehurst, Clarksville, died Sunday, April 25, 2009, at Gateway Medical Center. The funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Neal-Tarpley Chapel with Dr. Roger Freeman and Dr. John David Laida officiating. Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery. Visitation will be from 9 a.m. until the hour of the service Tuesday at the funeral home. Neal-Tarpley Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. She was born in Dotsonville, daughter of J. P. Mann and Ann Mai Morrow Mann. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband William (Bill) K. Whitehurst, two brothers James P. Mann and William Mann, and one sister Dorothy Minniehan. She was retired from the City of Clarksville as City Clerk. She was a member of First Baptist Church where she was a Sunday School Teacher for 18 years. She is survived by two sons, Bill(Paula) Carpenter of Fairview, TN., Rollow (Ann) Carpenter of Gallatan,TN.; a daughter, Nancy Hawkins (Mark), Clarksville; and three grandchildren, Matthew Carpenter, Nicolette and Buckley Rougemont, and special friend Buddy Morgan. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be members of the Adult Sunday School Class at First Baptist.
