Michael Anastas, a life-long Somerville resident, died Wednesday at his home. He was 76.
Born in Boston and raised in Somerville, he was the son of the late Vasil and the late Daphne Anastas. He served in the U.S. Navy During the Second World War.
Michael worked most of his life as a machinist, retiring from Brandeis University.
He was the brother of the late Rose Slaybough, brother in law of Paul Slaybough of Somerville, uncle of Lorraine Johnson of Billerica, Maureen Bolger of Peperell; grand uncle of Amy And Robyn Johnson.
A funeral service will be held Monday at 11:30 am at Dello Russo Funeral Home, 306 Main St., Medford. Relatives and friends may visit with the family from 10:30 to 11:30.
Interment will follow at Woodlawn Cemetery, Everett.
