Obituary

Dale K. Finnemore, 66, of Manchester died April 23, 2009 at the Catholic Medical Center after a period of declining health.
He was born in Skowhegan, ME on April 24, 1942, the son of Earl Finnemore and Barbara (Whittemore) Howe. He attended high school in Portland, ME.
Dale served in the US Army for 8 years, including tours in Germany and Vietnam. He received the Army Occupational Medal, National Defense Service Medal, the Vietnam Service and Campaign Medals as well as the Purple Heart.
Prior to moving to the Manchester area, he had served as the Police Chief in Cape Elizabeth, Maine. He was always very active in veterans’ affairs and had volunteered at the VA Medical Center for many years. He was twice past commander of the American Legion Post 79 and currently the Post’s Chaplain. He held membership in the Disabled American Veterans and the Military Order of the Purple Heart.
Dale loved fishing, golfing, and following the Red Sox and Patriots.
He was predeceased by one son Scott Finnemore.
Members of his family include his wife, Carmel (Dionne) Finnemore of Manchester; one son, Alan Finnemore of Portland; one daughter, Patricia Meehan of Portland; his mother, Barbara Howe of Portland; one brother, Peter Finnemore of South Portland; one step-son, David Goudreau of Manchester; one step-daughter, Laurie Parker of Barre, VT; seven grandchildren; one great-granddaughter; many nephews, nieces, and cousins.
A Mass of Christian burial was celebrated in Parish of the Transfiguration, corner of Kelley and Alsace Streets, on Monday, April 27, 2009. Burial with military honors followed in the NH State Veterans Cemetery, Boscawen.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his memory to the Patients’ Activities Fund at the VA Medical Center, 718 Smyth Rd., Manchester, NH 03104.
