Roland J. Emond, Sr., 87, of N. Dartmouth passed away Wednesday, April 22, 2009 at St. Luke’s Hospital in New Bedford. He was husband of the late Ann N. (Celletti) Emond.
Born in Fall River, he was son of the late Albert and Margaret (Schmitz) Emond. A veteran of WWII, he served his country in the United States Navy. Prior to retirement, he was a receiver for Continental Screw in New Bedford for 35 years and also worked as a receiver at Sears. Mr. Emond was a Communicant of St. George Church, Westport. A loving father and grandpa, he was an avid bowler and Red Sox fan.
Survivors include 2 sons: Philip A. Emond and his wife Eria of N. Dartmouth and Roland J. Emond, Jr. of Fall River; 3 daughters: Jacqueline Giusti and her husband Eric of N. Dartmouth, Linda Bernard and her husband Jim of N. Dartmouth and Jill Belliveau and her husband David of New Bedford; a sister: Irene Celletti of N. Dartmouth; a sister-in-law: Margaret Perrier of N. Dartmouth; 7 grandchildren; 4 great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral to which relatives and friends are invited will be Friday, April 24, 2009 from the Potter Funeral Home at 8:00 A.M. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at St. George Church, Westport at 9:00 A.M.
Calling hours Thursday 5 - 8 P.M.
Interment in St. Mary’s Cemetery, New Bedford.
