Obituary

Weiss, Teresa “Lorraine”, long term resident of Norwood, Massachusetts died at age 79, Wednesday April 22, 2009 at Brigham and Women’s Hospital in Boston, Massachusetts.

Lorraine was born April 11, 1930 to Regis MacDonald and Chester MacDonald in Boston, Massachusetts.

Lorraine is survived by her husband of 57 years, Peter Francis Weiss, Jr. and their four children: Peter F. Weiss, III and his wife Gail of Norwood; Paul Weiss, and his wife Dianne of Boylston, Edward Weiss and his wife Susan of New Canaan, Connecticut and Regis (Weiss) Donohue and her husband Stephen of Nashua, New Hampshire. Lorraine was a loving and devoted grandmother to 13 grandchildren and beloved aunt to many nieces and nephews.

The oldest of five children, Lorraine grew up in Jamaica Plain, and lived in Roslindale prior to moving to Norwood, Massachusetts. She is survived by sisters Henrietta Silton of Newton, Massachusetts, Edna Quint of Sun Lakes, Arizona, Lois Ferreira of Taunton, Massachusetts and sister-in-law Barbara MacDonald of Wellesley, Massachusetts.

Lorraine graduated from St. Elizabeth’s Nursing School in February 1951and worked as a Registered Nurse in Labor and Delivery at St. Elizabeth’s Hospital in Brighton, Massachusetts for several years.

Lorraine was pre-deceased by her parents, Chester and Regis MacDonald, as well as her brother, Chester “Chet” MacDonald, of Wellesley, Massachusetts, her sister-in-law Elizabeth “Betty” Weiss, of Norwood, Massachusetts, and niece, Kelly Ferreira, of Taunton, Massachusetts.

Lorraine was a 40-year parishioner of St. Catherine of Siena parish in Norwood, Massachusetts.

Lorraine will be remembered by all who knew her as a caring mother, doting grandmother, faithful sister, devoted wife, and kind friend. Lorraine’s life was a wonderful example of faithful service to others. She was a very generous and giving woman who always sacrificed for those whom she loved. Her kindness, sense of humor and ability to bring the entire family together for a lovely home cooked meal are just a few memories to cherish in her absence.

Funeral from The Robert J. Lawler & Crosby Funeral Home, 1803 Centre St. West Roxbury on Monday April 27, at 8:00 AM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in St. Catherine of Siena Church, 547 Washington St. Norwood at 9:00 AM. Relatives and friends are invited to attend.
Visiting hours Sunday from 4:00 to 8:00 PM.
Interment Massachusetts National Cemetery, Bourne, MA at 11:30 AM.
