Obituary

ROGER M. WHEELER, 79, of Weymouth, formerly of Hingham, died on Monday, April 20th, 2009 at the South Shore Hospital in Weymouth. Mr. Wheeler was born in Jamaica Plain and was a lifelong resident of Hingham before moving to Weymouth 12 years ago. He graduated from Hingham High School and then served with the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War. Following his military service, he worked at the Quincy Shipyard and then for 30 years as a custodian for the Hingham School Department, retiring in 1997. An avid gardener, he was devoted to his family and friends.

He was the husband of Ruby V. (Patey) Wheeler and father of Fred R. Wheeler of Hingham, Roger P. Wheeler and Nancy C. Brown both of Weymouth and the late Debra (Wheeler) Macdonald. Brother of Mary Antinarelli of West Yarmouth, Ronald Wheeler of Stoughton, the late Robert, Ralph, Raymond, Russell and Richard. Also survived by 5 grandchildren.

Funeral Services Thursday, April 23rd at 10 AM at the Downing Cottage Funeral Chapel, 21 Pond St., Hingham. Friends may visit at the Downing Chapel on Wednesday from 4-8 PM.

In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be made to the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, 10 Brookline Place West, 6th Floor, Brookline, MA 02445-7226.

The interment will be private at a later date.
