James E. “Jimmy” Fitzgerald, 92, of Ocilla, died Thursday, April 16 at Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital.
Graveside services will be held 4 P.M., Sunday, April 19 at Spring Hill Cemetery in Irwin County with Elder Mickey Harris officiating. The family will receive friends from 2:30 until 3:30 on Sunday at the funeral home in Ocilla.
Mr. Fitzgerald was born December 28, 1916 in Wilcox County to the late James A. and Sarah Elizabeth “Sallie” Parsons Fitzgerald. He moved to Albany fifteen years ago from Ocilla. Mr. Fitzgerald was a retired truck driver and auto mechanic, having worked for Luke Oil & Fertilizer, Irwin County Motors and Ross of Georgia. He was of the Baptist faith.
Mr. Fitzgerald is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Sandra K. & Ernest Metts of Ringold; sons and daughters-in-law, Tommy & Linda Fitzgerald and Jim & Sue Fitzgerald, Jr. all of Albany; 5 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren. Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Pauline Hunter Fitzgerald, five brothers and four sisters.
