Gertrude E. “Trudy” O’Neill, 59, died at home on Tuesday, April 14 surrounded by her family after a 10½ year battle with breast cancer. Daughter of the late Joseph T. and Gertrude E. (Davis) O’Neill, she was born in Boston. Miss O’Neill was a Stoughton resident for 45 years before moving to Middleboro 4 years ago. She was educated in Boston and Stoughton schools and graduated from Stoughton High School, Class of 1967. She attended Massasoit Community College in Brockton. Miss O’Neill was a purchasing manager for Star Printing Corporation in Brockton for many years. In her free time she enjoyed crafts and entertaining for her family and friends.
Miss O’Neill is survived by her siblings, Joseph T. O’Neill, Jr. of Portsmouth, NH, Francis G. O’Neill and his wife Jane of Middleboro, Richard J. O’Neill and his companion Gretchen Soehner of Attleboro and Kathleen M. Marinelli of Stoughton. She is also survived by many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and nephews.
Funeral will be held from the Farley Funeral Home, 358 Park St. (Rt. 27) Stoughton on Saturday, April 18 at 9:30 AM followed by a Funeral Mass at Immaculate Conception Church, Stoughton at 10:30 AM. Visiting Hours Friday 4-8 PM. Burial will take place at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery in Stoughton. Donations in Trudy’s name may be made to Dana Farber Cancer Institute, 10 Brookline Pl.
