Agnes L. (Ramos) Thomas, 94 of New Bedford died April 12, 2009 at the New Bedford Jewish Convalescent Home after a long illness.
She was the wife of the late Xenohone Thomas, D.M.D. and the former wife of the late Frank Lopes.
Born in New Bedford, the daughter of the late Mathius and Joaquina (Gibeau) Ramos, she lived in New Bedford all of her life.
Mrs. Thomas was a communicant of Our Lady of the Assumption Church where she was a member of the OLOA Club, Sacred Heart Club and St. Martin dePorres Guild.
She was the proprietor of Agnes' Beauty Shop before retiring from Southeastern Massachusetts University after 17 years.
Mrs. Thomas was a member of the New Bedford Hairdressing Association.
Survivors include her daughter, Elizabeth A. Peters of New Bedford; 2 sisters, Christina Alves of Boston and Charlotte Wheeler of Roxbury; 2 grandchildren, 6 great-grandchildren and a great-great-granddaughter; several nieces and nephews.
She was the grandmother of the late Kevin DaLuz and the sister of the late Antone Ramos, Manuel Nereu, Joseph Gonsalves, Mary Portier and Lucy Ramos.
Funeral from the Saunders-Dwyer Home For Funerals, 495 Park St. New Bedford Friday, April 17th at 8 AM. Funeral Mass at Our Lady of the Assumption Church at 9 AM. Burial will follow in St. John's Cemetery. Visiting hours Thursday, April 16th from 4-8 PM.
