Salem: Roland L. Erwin age 75 of Salem, died peacefully at home, surrounded by his family on Sunday, April 12, 2009. He was the husband of Celia M. (Viel) Erwin, with whom he shared 45 years of marriage.
Born and raised in Salem, he was the son of the late William and Arthemise (Jean) Erwin. During the early years of the war in Viet Nam, he served in Germany with the Army. Following his tour of duty he returned to Salem and was employed as a driver for Delande Electrical Supply Co., Inc. until his retirement in 1991.
Roland was a devoted husband, father and grandfather who believed ‘family always comes first.’ He was especially interested in model trains and fire trucks. In addition to being a daily mall walker, he was an avid ‘Sparky.’ Roland was also a religious man and member of the Immaculate Conception Parish of Salem.
In addition to his loving wife, he is survived by a daughter, Laura J. LeBlanc of Salem, a son, Dennis R. Erwin and his wife Deborah of W. Peabody, a granddaughter, Caroline L. LeBlanc of Salem, a brother Ronald Erwin of California as well as several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by 2 brothers, Isidore and Leo Erwin and a sister, Edith Farrell.
Relatives and friends are invited to gather at the Levesque Funeral Home, 163 Lafayette St. [Rt. 114 / 1-A] Salem on Thursday, April 16, 2009 at 8 a.m. to be followed by his funeral mass in the Immaculate Conception Church, Hawthorne Blvd., Salem at 9 a.m.
Visiting hours: Wednesday 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Burial will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Salem.
