Obituary

Mr. Terence D. Kenney, age 93, of Woburn passed away peacefully April 12th at the Aberjona Nursing Center in Winchester. He was the beloved husband of the late Frances T. (Haley). Born in Woburn he was the son of the late Terence and Mary (Tenney) Kenney.

Mr. Kenney was a life long resident of Woburn and graduated from Woburn High School with the class of 1933. Following graduation, Mr. Kenney went on to attend Bentley College and graduated with a degree in accounting and finance in 1937. In 1938 he began working at the Woburn Cooperative Bank and over time advanced to the position of Assistant Treasurer and later becoming the bank’s president in 1962. He retired in 1978 but remained a member of the bank's Board of Directors until 2003. Mr. Kenney also served on the Woburn Board of Assesors for 23 years. Always active and willing to be involved, Mr. Kenney was a past president of the Woburn Kiwanis Club, he was a life member of the Woburn Lodge of Elks, a member of the VFW post 543, and the Knights of Columbus, Council #77. Mr. Kenney was a proud Veteran of the United States Army and served overseas in the Philippines during WWII as a Staff Sergeant.
Mr. Kenney enjoyed life and interacting with people. He was mostly devoted to his loving family and enjoyed traveling throughout his life. In 2006 he had a wonderful vacation traveling with his family to Ireland. Mr. Kenney also loved reading, especially books having to do with history and western stories. He loved walking and keeping busy. He will be greatly missed by his loving family and many friends.

In addition to his wife and parents. Mr. Kenney is predeceased by his granddaughter, Kayla Kenney, sisters, Mary Gray and Dorothy Kinosky, brothers, Granville, Daniel and Clifford Boutwell and a dear friend, Edna Bennett. He is survived by his loving children, Mary Upton and her husband Joseph of Woburn, Terence Kenney Jr. and his wife Jeannine of Granby, MA, Catherine Heimlich and her husband Warren, Joseph Kenney and his wife Carol, Paula Hawley and her husband Richard, Daniel Kenney and his wife Donna, all of Woburn, Ann Penna and her husband George of Reading, and Elizabeth Kenney of Woburn. Mr. Kenney is also survived by eleven loving grandchildren, six loving great grandchildren and is further survived by his sister, Anna Leek of Woburn.

His funeral services will be held from the McLaughlin - Dello Russo Funeral Home 60 Pleasant St. Woburn, Wednesday, April 15th, at 9 a.m. followed by a funeral mass celebrated in St. Charles Church, 280 Main St., Woburn, at 10 a.m. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. Visiting hours Tuesday from 3 thru 8. Services will conclude with burial at Calvary Cemetery, Woburn. It has been requested that in lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made in Mr. Kenney's memory to the Kayla Kenney Memorial Fund, c/o Central Bank, 275 Main St. Woburn, MA 01801 or to the St. Vincent DePaul Society, c/o St. Charles Church, 280 Main St. Woburn, MA 01801.
