Roberta (Nowell) West, 85, a longtime resident of Derry and formerly of Winthrop, MA, died Saturday at home. She was born in Weymouth, MA, the daughter of the late George and Mabel (Thomas) Nowell. Roberta was one of the original Sweet Adeline’s and a member of the Eastern Star. She loved Bingo, traveling and was an avid supporter of the Humane Society of Greater Nashua.
She is survived by her children, William R. West and his wife Deborah of Derry, NH, Michael G. West and his wife Judy of Lynn, MA, Mark G. West and his wife Linda of Dublin, NH. She also leaves 4 grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Her husband, William West Jr., her sisters, Dorothy Brewer, Alice Hamor and brother Carl Nowell, predeceased her.
The Peabody Funeral Home and Crematorium are handling the arrangements and the family will hold a private service at a later date. Donations in memory of Mrs. West may be made to the Humane Society of Greater Nashua, 24 Ferry Rd., Nashua, NH 03064.
