Esmeralda A. “Babe” Viera, wife of the late Joseph G. Viera, died unexpectedly at her home on April 11, 2009.
She was 79.
Born in Taunton, she was the daughter of the late Antonio and Mary (Murais) Borges Alves.
Receiving her early education in Taunton schools, she later graduated from the Boston School of Hair Dressing.
A self-employed hairdresser, she ran Debby’s Beauty Salon in Taunton, from 1950 until 1969, before relocating to Raynham, where she ran the Country Beauty Salon until 1984.
Mrs. Viera was a communicant of St. Anthony Church.
Survivors included 2 daughters, Debra Ann Santos and her husband, Chip, of Taunton and Deidre M. Martin and her husband, Steven, of E. Taunton; a sister, Alice Nunes of Taunton; 4 grandchildren, Ericka and Kyle Santos, and Justin and Michael Martin; 3 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
She was also the sister of the late Emma Guilmette.
Her funeral will be held from the Silva Funeral Home, 80 Broadway on Wednesday, April 15th, at 8 a.m., followed by a funeral mass at St. Anthony Church at 9 a.m.
She will be interred at St. Joseph Cemetery.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend.
Calling Hours will be held at the funeral home on Tuesday, April 14th from 5 to 8 p.m.
