Obituary

Etienne, Martin E., age 86 of Rock Stream, NY died Wednesday, April 8, 2009 at RWJ Hospital in Hamilton, NJ. Martin was born February 7, 1923 in Hoboken, NJ, the only child of Charles and Julia Etienne. After graduating from Emerson High School in Union City, NJ he enlisted in the US Navy and served on an LCT during WWII. On May 12, 1951 in Union City, NJ he married Jane Parks Bevington. They lived in Fort Lee, NJ for 40 years and were members of The Church of the Good Shepherd where he served as a vestry member. He retired from the US Postal Service after working as a letter carrier in Fort Lee for 30 years. They moved to Rock Stream, NY in 1991 and immediately joined St. James Episcopal Church in Watkins Glen. They were also very active in the Retired Seniors Volunteer Program at Schuyler Hospital and Seneca View. He is predeceased by his wife Jane and survived by a son, Andrew Etienne of Delray Beach, FL, a daughter Judith E. Mabin and son-in-law George Mabin of Allentown, NJ, three granddaughters Heather (Troy), Gladkowski, Kelly (Patrick) Brophy, Shannon Mabin and great-granddaughter Margaret Jane Gladkowski. There will be a memorial service held at Holy Trinity Episcopal Church in South River, NJ, Monday, April 13 at 11:00AM. The family requests that in lieu of flowers donations be sent to the American Cancer Society, 20 Mercer St., Hackensack, NJ 07601.
