Brother of Betty Carcia, Susan Lawcewicz, Dorothy Bergeron, Barbara Duquette, Joanne Chubbuck and the late Jack Mariani.
Funeral Service in the J. Frank Conley Funeral Home, 138 Belmont Street (Rte 123) Brockton Monday at 9:15 am. Burial in Massachusetts National Cemetery, Bourne at 11:15 am. Visiting Hours Sunday 3-7 pm. Donations in Edward’s memory may be made to the United Cerebral Palsy Foundation, 71 Arsenal St.,Watertown, MA 02472.

Edward J. Mariani, 78, WW II Marine Vet. Brockton native resident
Mr. Mariani died Thursday at Sachem Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in East Bridgewater after a lengthy illness. He was born in Brockton, son of the late Andrew and Ida (Howland) Mariani. Lifelong resident of Brockton. Mr. Mariani was a US Marine veteran of WW II. He flew 54 missions over the Pacific as a tail gunner of an SBD Douglas Daunter. In July of 1998 he was belatedly awarded his Air Medal for meritorious achievement in flight. In January of 1999, Mr. Mariani was ceremoniously awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross for his WW II Exploits. He worked as a mason contractor in and around the city of Brockton for over 40 years until his illness. He was a member and past President of both the Brockton Lions Club and the Brockton Bocce Club. He was also a member of the First Baptist Church.
Survived by his wife of 57 years, Marilyn (Livie) Mariani, 2 daughters, Nancy Dunsing and her husband Buddy, Linda Bubello and her husband Charles and a son, Jay Mariani all of Brockton. Grandfather of Tara Damiani, Todd and Tayla Bubello, Melissa and Sarah Dunsing all of Brockton, Ross, John and Nicholas Mariani of Taunton and 2 great grandchildren, Angelina and Dominic Damiani of Brockton.
