Gilbert Amaral, age 86, of Fall River passed away April 7, 2009. Husband of the late Kathleen (Dooley) and former husband of Dolores (Rego) Souza and son of the late Bento and Rose (Pereira) Amaral. He was a Fall River resident for most of his life. He was a retired nursing aide at the Brockton VA Hospital, US Navy veteran of WWII, a member of Holy Rosary Parish and the Liberal Club. He was a Park Commissioner under the Arruda, Mitchell and Viveriros administrations. He helped organize the N. End Bowling League in 1946 and the St. Elizabeth Bowling League in 1961 and was active in the Maplewood Little League.
He is survived by his daughter: Vivian and her husband Ronald R. Borden of Tiverton, grandson: Ronald K. Borden, great grandson: Ronald R. Borden II and several nieces and nephews. He was the brother of the late Mary Raposa and Alice Viveiros
His funeral service will take place in the Manuel Rogers & Sons Funeral Home, Inc. 1521 N. Main St. FRIDAY at 9 A.M. Visitation 8:30-9:00 A.M. Interment in Notre Dame Cemetery. Calling hours THURSDAY 4-8 P.M.
