Mr. Charles W. Walker, 77, of Irwinville, died Monday, April 6 at the Tift Regional Medical Center.
Funeral services will be held 2 P.M. Wednesday, April 8, at Irwinville United Methodist Church with Rev. John Walker and Rev. Wayne McCrimmon officiating. Interment will follow in the Irwinville Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 7-9, Tuesday evening at the funeral home in Ocilla.
Mr. Walker was born October 19, 1931 in Brunswick to the late Lige Walker and Lena Greene Walker. He was a 1948 graduate of Irwinville High School and attended Georgia Military College. Mr. Walker was a farmer, the owner and operator of W. Trucking Company, and a former member of the Irwin County BOE. He lived in the community most of his life where he was an active member of Irwinville United Methodist Church and served on the church Administrative Board.
Mr. Walker is survived by his wife; Joan Dickson Walker of Irwin County; sons and daughter-in-law Charlie (Kristie) Walker of Marietta, GA and Bobby (Emily) Walker of Acworth, GA; daughters and son-in-law Donna K. (Charlie) Young of Fitzgerald and Becky (Chuck) Floyd of Center Hill, FL; 8 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren. Along with his parents he was preceded in death by a brother Clifford Walker Sr., son Johnny Walker, and two granddaughters Lisha Young and Krystal Walker.
