TEWKSBURY - Mary J. (Evans) Irvine, age 93, died Friday, June 27, at Wingate at Andovernursing care facility. She was the wife of Charles F. Irvine Sr., who died in 1993.
She was born in Somerville, Oct. 26, 1909, a daughter of the late George V. and Johanna(O’Brien) Evans. She lived in Somerville the greater part of her life, where she was acommunicant of St. Catherine of Genoa Church. She lived the later part of her live in Tewksburywhere she was a communicant of St. William’s Church.
In her earlier years, she was employed by the John Hancock insurance company in Boston.
She was also active in the Somerville Emblem Club, and had served in several capacities includingChapter President.
She is survived by three sons and daughters-in-law, Charles F. and his wife Diane (Hickey) IrvineJr. of Tewksbury, Robert G. and his wife Beth Irvine of Brandon, Fla, John J. andhis wife Nancy (Roy) Irvine of Sandwich, a daughter, Joan Gregory of Alemida, Cal., seven grandchildren, Cheryl Minervini, Michael,William, Jonathon, and Christopher Irvine, Dawn and Steven Gregory, and 6 great grandchildren.
She was also sister of the late Catherine Higgins, Helen Martell, George, John and Thomas Evans.
Her Funeral Mass was held Monday, June 30, in St. Catherine of Genoa Church, Somerville. Interment was in Holy Cross Cemetery, Malden.
