WORCESTER-Josephine B. (Boyda) Pierson, 89, of 49 Pleasant Valley Drive, died Friday, June 27th in the Christopher House. Her husband of 35 years, Harry Pierson died in 1983. She leaves a son, Robert P. Pierson of Oxnard, CA; a daughter, Christina E. Bergeron of Oakham; a sister, Katherine Beebe of Moscow, ID; 10 grandchildren, 3 great grandchildren and several nephews and nieces. She was predeceased by a daughter Katherine M. Brown in 1978 and two brothers, Francis and Walter Boyda.
She was born in Worcester, the daughter of John and Mary (Boras) Boyda, graduated from Worcester Girl's Trade High School and has lived here all of her life. Mrs. Pierson worked at Singer Sewing Center for many years, retiring in 1975. She was a member of St. Joan of Arc Church and enjoyed sewing.
Mrs. Pierson donated her body to the Harvard Medical School Anatomical Gift Program. A memorial service will be held at 10:00 AM on Monday, June 30th in St. Joan of Arc Church, 570 Lincoln Street. There are no calling hours. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Christopher House Activities Fund, 20 Mary Scano Drive, Worcester, MA 01605 or to a charity of the donor’s choice.
