Obituary

ROCKPORT: Flora B. (Williams) Flannagan, 90, of 23 Curtis Street died Sunday, April 5, 2009 in the Den Mar Nursing & Rehabilitation Center. She was the wife of the late William E. Flannagan, who died in February of 1962.
Born in Shelburne, Nova Scotia, Canada on January 28, 1919 she was the daughter of the late Daniel and Laura (Deshamp) Williams. Flora was a graduate of Shelburne High School in Nova Scotia. She had resided in Gloucester for many years before moving to Rockport thirty-five years ago.
Flora worked as a hostess at The Tavern in Gloucester for many years. She also worked at the Lufkin Diner and Catering for several years.
She is survived by three sons and daughters-in-law, John and Linda (Kinnear) Flannagan and Terry and Patricia (Brian) Flannagan all of Gloucester, William E. and Kathryn (Brown) Flannagan of Wakefield, two daughters and a son-in-law, Lisa and Ian Bowles of Warwick, RI and Joan A. Weeks of Rockport, thirteen grandchildren, Michael and Darren Sweet, Jonelle (Flannagan) Derby, Timothy Flannagan, Alycia (Flannagan) Gossom, Patrick, Kaitlin, Andrew and Charlie Flannagan, April (Amaral) Stanton, Keith and Todd Previte and Scott Flannagan, fourteen great-grandchildren, her sister, Thelma Williams of Shelburne, Nova Scotia and many nieces and nephews. She was also predeceased by her daughter, Sylvia E. Previte, son-in-law, Allen E. Weeks, granddaughter, Terry Faye Flannagan and two sisters, Helen Ossinger and Rita Barkhouse.
Her funeral service will be privately held in the Beechbrook Cemetery at the convenience of the family. There are no visiting hours. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in her memory to the “Activity Fund” of the Den Mar Nursing & Rehabilitation Center, 44 South St., Rockport, MA 01966. Arrangements are under the direction of the Pike-Grondin Funeral Home, 61 Middle Street, Gloucester.
