WILSON, Neil F., Sr. - Of Weymouth, formerly of Chelsea, April 1st, Lieutenant Chelsea Fire Dept., retired. Devoted husband of Dorothy T. (Dunn). Beloved father of Kathleen DiLorenzo of Weymouth, Neil F. Wilson, Jr. of Groveland, Daniel Wilson of Tewksbury, William Wilson of West Hartford, CT and Mary Brooks of Braintree. Dear brother of Gertrude Martino of Chelmsford, Mary Dichard of Pelham, NH, Francis X. Wilson of South Boston, Paul Wilson of Salem, NH and the late Dorothy Duffy. Lovingly survived by 18 grandchildren, 1 great grandchild as well as many nieces and nephews. Family and friends are kindly invited to attend a Funeral from the Smith Funeral Home, 125 Washington Avenue, CHELSEA on Monday, April 6th at 8 AM followed by a Funeral Mass celebrated in St. Rose Church, 600 Broadway, CHELSEA at 9 o'clock. Visiting Hours in the Smith Funeral Home on Sunday from 3-7 PM. Services will conclude with interment at Woodlawn Cemetery. Born in Boston and a longtime Chelsea resident until moving to the South Shore in 2000, Neil, at 80 years of age, passed away at home Wednesday afternoon surrounded by his devoted family after a courageous battle with cancer.
Appointed to the Chelsea Fire Department on December 17, 1962, he attained the rank of Lieutenant on July 28, 1971 and retired from the department on July 2, 1983. In his retirement, he gave his time, talent and treasure to all those he loved.
