Mary (Coito) Medeiros, 82, of New Bedford died Tuesday June 24, 2003 at Hathaway Manor Extended Care Facility after a long illness. She was the wife of the late Edward Medeiros.
Born in New Bedford, the daughter of the late Manuel and Mary (Arruda) Coito, she lived in New Bedford all of her life.
Mrs. Medeiros was formerly employed as a stitcher at Brooke Manufacturing and Elco Dress for many years. She later worked with the nutrition program at Coastline Elderly Services for 16 years until retiring in 1997 as senior site manager.
Survivors include 2 daughters, Lorraine Payton of New Bedford and Janice Barber, and her husband James, of Dartmouth, a brother, Walter Coito of Saco, Maine; 2 sisters, Loretta Glaser of Byron, NY and Gerry Richards of New Bedford, 2 grandchildren, Timothy Barber of Dartmouth and Tracey Barber of Orlando, FL; 2 great-nieces who had resided with her, Trisha Richards and Amanda Richards, both of New Bedford; a great-great-niece, Kaylee; and other nieces and nephews.She was the sister of the late Manuel Coito, Jr.
Funeral from the Saunders-Dwyer Home for Funerals, 495 Park St., New BedfordFriday June 27, 2003 at 11 AM.Funeral Mass at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church at 12 Noon.Relatives and friends are invited to attend. Visiting hours will be on Thursday June 26, 2003 from 4-8 PM. Burial will be in St. John's Cemetery.
