Obituary

John R. White, a lifelong resident of Everett, died on Monday March 30, 2009 at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center in Boston following a short and courageous battle with lung cancer. He was 76 years old.

John was born in Everett on December 17, 1932. He grew up in Everett where he attended Immaculate Conception Parochial School and graduated from Everett Vocational High School in 1950. He enlisted into the United States Air Force on February 14, 1952. He served his country during the Korean Conflict and was discharged on February 13, 1956 with the rank of Airman First Class. John began working as a crane operator following his discharge and has been a member of The International Union of Operating Engineers Local # 4 for over 40 years. He retired several years ago. He was a member of the Everett American Legion Post # 176.

John is the beloved son of the late Alphonsus and Mary M. (Walsh) White. He is the devoted brother of Margaret Cafarelli and her husband George of Revere, Ann Lemieux and her husband James of Everett, Claire Lenehan and her husband James of Everett, Mary Young of Everett, Margaret Soucy-LeBrecque of Florida and the late Thomas C. White. He is the loving uncle of many nieces and nephews.

John's Funeral will be held on Friday April 3, 2009 at 9 a.m. from The Carr Funeral Home, 1159 Main St. Melrose at Wakefield line followed by his Funeral Mass in St. Joseph's Church, 173 Albion St. Wakefield at 10 a.m. Relatives and friends are invited. Visiting hours will be on Thursday April 2, 2009 from 4 to 8 p.m. Burial will be at Woodlawn Cemetery, Everett.
