TEWKSBURY - Barbara H. Jones, age 73, a well known resident of Tewksbury for the past five decades, died Tuesday morning, March 31, at her Saunders Circle residence. She was the wife of the late Edward J. Solon, and later, the late Tewksbury police officer, James E. Jones.
She was born in Boston, May 21, 1935, a daughter of the late Walter and Ruth (Nolan) Dunn. She was raised in Chelsea, and moved to Tewksbury in 1959 to raise her family.
Prior to retirement she was an assembler at MA/COM and had the honor to have worked on the ceramic heat tiles for NASA's Shuttle Program.
Mrs. Jones was a communicant of St. William's Church. She was also active at the Tewksbury-Wilmington Elks Lodge, especially during the years her late husband "Jimmy" was Exhaulted Ruler.
She is survived by four children and their spouses, Edward W. "Gibby" Solon and his wife Margaret (Hamilton) of Brookline, Michael E. Solon and his fiance Sharon Springman of FL, Darlene Butler of Lowell, Robert P. Solon and his wife Lori (Landers) of Wilmington; fourteen grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; a sister, Ruth Prenney of No. Reading; and dear friends, Maria Gondola and Ruth Bradley both of Tewksbury.
She was also sister of the late Joan Burge.
Her Funeral Mass will be held Saturday, April 4, at 10:00 a.m. in St. William's Church, 1351 Main St. (Rte 38) Tewksbury. Burial will follow at Tewksbury Cemetery. Visiting hours are Furday 4 to 7 p.m. in the funeral home.
