PAXTON- John H. Ellis Sr., 95, of Paxton died June 10 in St. Vincent Hospital at Worcester Medical Center.
His wife, Grace A. Ellis, died in 2002. He leaves two sons, John H. Ellis Jr. of Baltic, Conn., and Richard C. Ellis of Worcester; two daughters, June B. Hanlan of Worcester and Karen L. Thibodeau of Dudley; 13 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; a great-great-grandchild; several nephews and nieces. A daughter, Patricia A. Grundstrom; a brother and three sisters predeceased him. He was born in Worcester, son of John P. and Emma (Koenig) Ellis. He attended the former South High School. He was an Army veteran, serving from 1933-1936.
Mr. Ellis worked for The Reed Rolled Thread Co. as a tool and die maker for more than 25 years, retiring in 1972. He was a member of the Morning Star Lodge of Masons, a past high priest of Eureka Royal Arch Chapter, past illustrious master Hiram Council Royal and Select Master Masons, past commander Worcester County Commandry Knights Templars and past patron Stella Chapter Order of the Eastern Star. He was a member of All Saints Episcopal Church. He was an avid reader.
The funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, June 14, in All Saints Episcopal Church, 10 Irving St., Worcester. Burial will be in Worcester County Memorial Park, Paxton. Calling hours are 5 to 8 p.m. Friday, June 13, in Nordgren Memorial Chapel, 300 Lincoln St. (www.nordgrenmemorialchapel.com).
