Obituary

FEENEY, John "Bud" L. Age 87 of Chatham formerly of Dedham, passed away peacefully at the Regency Healthcare Facility in Centerville, MA, surrounded by his family on March 28th after a short period of failing health. A 1941 graduate of Dedham High School, Bud enlisted in the Navy at the age of 17 following the attack on Pearl Harbor. He served his tour of duty as a medic in the pacific Theater. Returning to Dedham he spent several years as a fireman at the East Dedham Station before purchasing the Shiretown Café off Dedham Square and later the Halfway Café on Washington St. After the death of one of his twin sons, Bud and his family moved to Chatham, MA, where he purchased a Western Auto franchise and later was employed by United Liquors as a salesman distinguishing himself as one of their top salesmen several years running. Bud developed a keen interest in boating, and his family recounts many tales of fishing and boating in the waters off Chatham. In retirement, Bud worked on his golf game and especially enjoyed his job as a starter for the Iyanough Golf Course (where, late in life, he sank a hole-in-one.) Bud was pre-deceased by his wife of 34 years, Elizabeth "Betty" (Flanagan) also of Dedham. He leaves behind two sisters, Rita and Patricia Feeney both of Orleans, MA. His gentle nature and enduring wit will be dearly missed by his family: sons Michael Domenica and his wife Jo of Boston and Virginia; Matthew Feeney and his wife Sandra of Greenland, NH; his daughters Mimi (Domenica) Kolodziej of Windham, NH and Loretta Feeney of Centerville; his 6 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren. Funeral Service at the George F. Doherty & Sons Funeral Home 456 High St. DEDHAM Saturday at 11AM. Relatives and friends kindly invited Visiting hours Friday from 4-8PM.
