M. Dorothy (McGorty) Jaissle, 92, of York, ME, formerly of Hudson, MA, died on Sunday, March 29 at York Hospital in York, ME. She leaves her husband of 63 years, Frederick C. Jaissle of York, ME.
Born in Hudson, MA, daughter of the late George C. and Dora F. (McCarthy) McGorty, Mrs. Jaissle resided in Hudson, MA most of her life before moving to York, ME in 1993. She was employed at R.F. Kerrigan Insurance Agency in Hudson, MA until retiring in 1991 and prior to that worked at the Hudson School Department.
Dorothy was a member of Saint Michael’s Parish in Hudson, MA and Saint Christopher’s Parish in York, ME. She was a life member, Past Regent of Court St. John Eudes, C.D.A., Charter Member of the Hudson Emblem Club, V.F.W. Auxiliary, Hudson Woman’s Club, American Red Cross Overseas Association, Hudson Senior Citizens, former Treasurer of the Hudson Youth Booster Club, Hudson H.S. Athletic Association, York Senior Citizens Center and the York Hospital Auxiliary. After moving to Maine, she volunteered at the York Hospital enjoying the visitors and exceptional staff of the hospital.
She is survived by her daughters, Michele Vail of Port Angeles, Washington, Gretchen Seaver and her husband Russell of York, ME and Jennifer Daughtery and her husband Michael of Big Lake, Alaska. She also leaves her granddaughter, Marie Seaver Drake; her great grandson, Scott Drake both of York, ME; brother-in-law, George Filipe of Seminole, Florida; sisters-in-law, Annette McGorty of Hudson, MA and Ruth McGorty of Marlboro, MA. Dorothy was pre-deceased by her daughter, Jacqueline Jaissle in 1951; son-in-law, Ret. Captain Robert Vail; brothers, George F., Robert A. and John M. McGorty; sisters, Marjorie Wheeler, Rita A. Sudgen, Eileen Wolkovich and Terese F. Filipe.
A funeral mass will be celebrated on Thursday, April 2 at 11:00 a.m. in Saint Michael’s Church, 21 Manning Street, Hudson. Burial will follow in Saint Michael’s Cemetery, Hudson. Calling hours will be held on Thursday, April 2, from 9:00 to 10:45 a.m. prior to the mass at the Tighe-Hamilton Funeral Home, Inc. 50 Central St. Hudson, MA 01749.
