Joyce B. Kistler, 74
Edgartown-Joyce B. Kistler, 74, formerly of West Boylston, died unexpectedly on March 25, 2009 at Massachusetts General Hospital, Boston Ma. She was predeceased by her husband of more than 50 years, Walter A. Kistler on Dec. 12, 2008.She leaves her three sons, Samuel A. Kistler of Edgartown, Nathaniel G. Kistler of Edgartown and Eric W. Kistler of Worcester, three grandchildren Jeffrey, Samuel and Ashley.
She was born September 6, 1934 in Worcester MA., .The daughter of the late Viola and Glenn Bucknam . and lived more than 50 years in West Boylston. She graduated from North High School, Worcester and the Worcester Junior College. In 1981 she graduated from Anna Maria College in Paxton, MA. She worked for many years in the advertising field. She taught numerous classes in portrait drawing, pastel drawing, ceramics, calligraphy and Scandinavian and Chinese cooking. She donated many hours to various groups and clubs, but, most notably Tower hill Arboretum and library in Boylston Ma. She was a very accomplished artist and her works were displayed at numerous museums and galleries across the state. She spent her free time split between sailing the New England coastline with her husband and family. Traveling around the world and attending her very well known garden at her home. She was a member of the First Congregational Church in West Boylston.
A graveside service is planned for both Joyce and Walter Kistler, Sunday, May 17, 2009 at 1 PM in Mount Vernon Cemetery in West Boylston. Donations may be made in Walter A. Kistlers name to the Alzheimer’s Assoc., 311 Arsenal Street, Watertown Ma., 02472.
