Margaret (Costa) Furtado, age 86, of Swansea, passed away Saturday March 28, 2009. She was the wife of the late Joseph Furtado. Born in Fall River, daughter of the late Louis F. & Maria (Mello) Costa. Prior to retiring, Margaret was a Manager for several Garment Mfg. companies in Fall River & Assonet. Mrs. Furtado was a Parishioner, Lecturer, & C.C.D. Teacher at St. John of God Church. She was a member of the St. John of God Women’s Guild, Holy Rosary Society & a recipient of the Marian Medal. Margaret had also attended Bristol Community College in Designing and Management.
She is survived by her children: Margaret A. Letourneau and husband Vincent of Fall River, Joseph E. Furtado and his wife Barbara of Fall River, Sandra Boffard and husband “Sarge” of Swansea, Kathleen C. Choate of Florida, Jeffrey M. Furtado and wife Colleen of Westport, Michael L. Furtado of E. Providence; Sister of Louis Costa of New Bedford and the late Antone “Chris”, Charlie, Manuel, Albert, all Costa, Mary Andrade and Irene Saulter; 13 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren, & several nieces & nephews. She was also the grandmother of the late Sean & Joey Furtado.
Her funeral will take place from the MANUEL ROGERS & SONS FUNERAL HOME 1521 N. Main St. WEDNESDAY at 9 A.M. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in St. John of God Church, Brayton Ave. Somerset at 10 A.M. Interment in St. Patrick Cemetery, Fall River. Calling hours TUESDAY 4-8 P.M.
