Irene Marie (Rosselot) Muren, 68, of Marion, died Monday June 23, 2003 peacefully at home. She was the wife of Albert C. Muren, to whom she was married for 47 years.
Born in Owensville, Ohio, the daughter of the late Clifford L. and Gladys L. (Dimmitt) Rosselot, she had lived in Massachusetts for 35 years.
She was a communicant of St. Rita's Church in Marion.
Mrs. Muren was formerly employed as a retail salesperson and Mary Kay Beauty consultant. She had established the Merle Norman Cosmetic Studios in New Bedford and Dartmouth.
Mrs. Muren was active in volunteer work involving the sick and the elderly, and directed the Friendly Visitor Program at the YWCA in New Bedford.
The joys of her life were her three children. She was a warm and generous person who was a loving and devoted wife and mother.
Survivors include her husband; a son, Clifford A. Muren, and his wife Linda M. Muren, of Ashland; 2 daughters, Andrea Muren Shanahan, and her husband John F. Shanahan, of Medford, and Gail E. Stetson, and her husband Jon E. Stetson of Fairhaven; 3 grandchildren, Elise N. Muren, John Christopher Shanahan and Alison T. Shanahan; and several nieces and nephews.She was the sister of the late Clara Jeanne Peters.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend visiting hours in the Saunders-Dwyer Mattapoisett Home for Funerals, 50 County Rd., Route 6, Mattapoisett Thursday from 2-4 and 7-9. Her Funeral Mass and burial will be in Owensville, Ohio. In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be made to Friends of the Marion Visiting Nurses Association, P.O. Box 686, Marion, MA 02738.
