Obituary

Helen A. (Tobojka) Toomey, 91, of New Bedford, died March 25, 2009 at St. Luke's Hospital after a brief illness. She was the wife of the late John J. Toomey.
Born in New Bedford, the daughter of the late Paul and Julia (Wienzek) Tobojka, she lived in New Bedford for most of her life.
She was a communicant of St. Julie Billiart Church.
Mrs. Toomey was formerly employed as an inspector at Goodyear Tire & Rubber Company until her retirement.
She was a member of the St. Hedwig Senior Citizens, the American Legion Post 166 Ladies Auxiliary, and the National Association of Retired Federal Employees.
Mrs. Toomey was an avid Boston Red Sox fan, and was well-known as a cake maker and cook. She loved her dog Brady.
Survivors include a son, Frederick J. Toomey and his wife Maryanne of New Bedford; a daughter, Patricia F. Stinson and her husband Richard of New Bedford; five grandchildren, Sean, Maureen and Kathleen Toomey, and Anne-Marie and Brianne Stinson; and nieces and nephews.
She was the sister of the late Gladys Widuch, Stephanie Tobojka, Stella Farias, Stanley Tobojka, Edward Tobojka and Catherine Fisher.
Her Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Saturday at 9 AM in St. Julie Billiart Church, Dartmouth. Burial will follow in Rural Cemetery. Visiting hours Friday 5-8 PM in the Saunders-Dwyer Home for Funerals, 495 Park St., New Bedford.
