Alma D. (Higgins) O’Keefe, 91, died at the Sunrise of Norwood Nursing Home on Tuesday, March 24 after a period of failing health. She was the wife of the late Harold D. O’Keefe. Born in Everett, she was educated in Canton schools and graduated from Canton High School, Class of 1935. She was a resident of Canton for over 50 years. Mrs. O’Keefe owned O’Keefe Dry Cleaners in Stoughton with her husband for 30 years. She then was a cashier at Stop& Shop in Brockton for 18 years before retiring 30 years ago. In her free time she enjoyed gardening, spending time with her family and traveling, especially a trip to Ireland with her husband and family trips to Florida.
Mrs. O’Keefe was the mother of David F. O’Keefe and his wife Carol of Rockland, Maureen J. Flaherty and her husband John of Bedford, NH and the late Robert D. O’Keefe. She was the sister of Joan Krupa of AZ, formerly of Norwell, John “Jack” Higgins of Stoneham and the late Donald Higgins and Frances Rose. She is also survived by 7 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren, many nieces and nephews.
Funeral Prayers will be offered from the Farley Funeral Home, 358 Park St. (Rt.27) Stoughton on Saturday, March 28 at 10 AM. Visiting Hours prior from 9-10 AM. Burial will take place at Canton Corner Cemetery in Canton. Donations in Alma’s name may be sent to the American Heart Assn., 20 Speen St., Framingham, MA 01701.
