OBITUARY

Fitchburg

Edith E. Tiilikkala, 90, of Fitchburg, died Tuesday March 10, at LaChance
Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Gardner. She had lived in Fitchburg
all her life. She retired at the age of 74 from Steel-Fab, -after 18 years,
where she worked and was in full charge of all bookkeeping systems.
She had previously worked as an Executive Secretary, office manager and
full charge bookkeeper in other offices.
She leaves behind a nephew, J. Michael Guglietti and his wife Elizabeth of
Lunenburg; two nieces Joanne B. Boulanger and her husband Leo of
Westminster; and Debra L. LaPrade of Barre. She also had six grand
nephews and grand nieces as well a five great great grandnephews and
nieces. Her Sister Eleanor and her brother-in-law Frank Guigletti
predeceased her. Edith was born in Fitchburg March 26, 1918, the daughter
of Hjalmar and Lempi (Freedson) Tillilkkala.
Edith graduated from Fitchburg High School where she earned a gold "F".
She earned a Bachelor's Degree from Fitchburg State College where she
was active in the Glee Club and appeared in two operatas. She was also a
member of the art club and the class yearbook. She enjoyed painting,
reading and music and in her earlier years swimming, photography and
winter activities. Edith had sung in a church choir and was a member of the
Fitchburg State Alumni Association.
She wishes to be cremated with a memorial service to be held at Elm St.
Congregational Church 264 Elm St. on March 28, at 1:00 P.M. There are no
calling hours. At a later time a burial service will be held at Forest Hill
Cemetery at her family site. Donations may be made to either the Elm St.
Congregational Church 264 Elm St. Fitchburg, Ma. 01420 or the Fitchburg
State Alumni Association. Bosk Funeral Home 85 Blossom St. is assisting
the family.
