Obituary

Alberta A. Pingree passed away in the early evening of March 19, 2009 at the age of 84. She was the beloved niece of Milan and Annie Lamson of Derry, New Hampshire. Raised in Derry, New Hampshire she graduated from Pinkerton Academy with the Class of 1942. In September of the same year, she married Elwin S. Pingree and made their home in Derry. Alberta and Elwin remained in Derry raising their family until 1977 when they moved to Ossipee, New Hampshire. They remained there until 1995, when Alberta returned to Derry following the death of Elwin in 1988. She always felt Derry to be her home, in close proximity to her family and friends.
Her family remembers her as a dedicated and loyal Executive Secretary at places, such as Honeywell, GTE Sylvania and Carroll County Health & Home Services. Her career culminated with the Londonderry School District Office as an Assistant to whoever needed her and it was from that job she retired in 2000. Family also remembers her as having volunteered at Parkland Medical Center just prior to her retirement - she so enjoyed being busy. For many decades, she served as the Pinkerton Academy Class Correspondent and enjoyed the involvement with fellow classmates in preparing for their Class Reunions, as well as attending the Alumni Day held on the grounds of Pinkerton each year.
Interesting Fact Not Known - She worked as a Nanny in the Peterborough Area during the Summer months of her High School Years.
When afforded the opportunity for leisure time, which came after her kids were grown, she enjoyed gardening, playing Bingo, the occasional trip with friends and her daughters to Foxwoods and travel. Much of her travel was in the company of one of her children, who felt so blessed to have her along and create the memories that now live in their hearts.
Interesting Fact Not Known - With no professional musical training, her gift of replaying a musical piece on a piano or organ upon hearing it once or twice was near perfection.
This woman of great faith and immense love will be missed by her children: Edward "Ned" and Lynn Pingree of Alton, NH; Maureen and Steve Harris of Blue Hill, Maine; Bonnie and John Medico of Melvin Village, NH; Nancy and Harold "Hal" Sullivan of Manchester, NH; Trudy Pingree and Gai Cleaveland of Bayfield, Colorado and Trixie and Andrew Lefebvre of Londonderry, NH. She will miss and be missed by her 12 Grandchildren and 11 Great Grandchildren. Within hours of her passing she became a Great Great Grandmother for the first time, Noah.
She is also survived by her sister, Marjorie Garrett, and many nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews.
A Tribute to this wonderful Wife, Mother, Grandmother, Great Grandmother and Friend was held at Central Congregational Church, 14 Crescent Street, Derry, NH on Saturday, March 28th at 11:00 a.m. Private burial was in Forest Hill Cemetery, E. Derry. Donations in her memory may be made to the American Cancer Society, Memorial Processing Center, 30 Speen St., Framingham, MA 01701.
