Jamey Kent, 30, of Fitzgerald, Georgia, died Friday, March 20, 2009 in Tifton.
Funeral services will be held 2 P.M. Sunday, March 22, at the Paulk Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Steve Hand and Rev. Dan Lovett officiating. Interment will follow in Mt. Olive Cemetery. Visitation will be held 7-9, Saturday evening at the funeral home in Fitzgerald.
Mr. Kent was born June 14, 1978 in Cherokee County, Georgia to Larry Kent and JoAnn Hitt Black. He lived in the community all of his life, graduating from Fitzgerald High School in 1996 and from Ben Hill-Irwin Tech in 1997. Mr. Kent was a Diesel Mechanic for Yale Lift Trucks in Tifton and was a former Welder for Haulmark in Fitzgerald. He was a member of Mt. Olive Baptist Church. He was an avid fisherman and hunter and loved helping his friends.
He is survived by his wife, Terri Lynn McCook Kent of Fitzgerald; son, Logan James Kent of Fitzgerald and expecting another child; parents, Jimmy & JoAnn Black of Fitzgerald and Larry Kent of Dawsonville; sister and brother-in-law, Melissa & Todd Thompson of Fitzgerald; half sister, Emily Kent of Dawsonville; sister-in-law and husband, Wendy & Whit Story of Fitzgerald; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Kenneth & Linda McCook of Fitzgerald; maternal grandmother, Rose and the late Raymond Little of Dawsonville; paternal grandmother, Louise Kent of Dawsonville, as well as several beloved nieces and nephews.
